Batavia, 2003

The City of Batavia had been in need of a new center of city government for years. They also were heavily invested in the former Genesee Country Mall, a failed condominium retail project with about 30% occupancy. Following a feasibility study, the final concept allowed for portions of the mall to be demolished and the New City Center to be nested into the circulation pattern of the mall. The relocation has made the government building more accessible to the public by incorporating it into the mall’s primary circulation route. The building is also well-positioned in the city core, heightening its visibility and accessibility.
